How it’s played
Nassau is three matches in one round: the front 9, the back 9, and the overall 18, each with its own amount (defaults $5 / $5 / $5 — the per-player amount auto-syncs to their sum). On the default match-play basis each nine is a hole-by-hole match between two players: win more holes than your opponent on that nine and you win that match. Switch to stroke totals to compare aggregate scores instead, which also allows 3–4 players.
Presses are what make Nassau interesting. With auto-presses on, whenever a side falls 2 down on a nine (trigger configurable), a brand-new match — the press — opens automatically on the remaining holes of that nine, at full or half the nine's amount. You can cap presses at one per nine or two per 18, or leave them unlimited. Presses in this app are auto-only: manual mid-round press declarations aren't supported yet.
Handicaps are on by default (full difference, strokes taken where the stroke index says). Uncheck "Use handicap strokes" for a gross Nassau.
Settlement. Each match is settled on its own. Two players: the winner of a match takes its amount from the other. Three or more (stroke totals): the winner of a match collects its amount from every other player, so a $5 front nine won in a twelve-player game pays $55. Results and the leaderboard name the Front 9, Back 9 and Overall winners outright.
Ties. On stroke totals, a match level on the low total is settled by the Commish's tie-break. Push (the default) voids it: nobody collects. Split shares it: the tied players collect the amount from everyone else between them. USGA card match compares the tied players over the last 6, 3 and 1 holes of the nine (the back 9 first for the overall). App coin toss is flipped in the app by the Commish, the scorekeeper or a group admin, and records the winner; until it is flipped the match pushes. A match is only settled once every player has a score on every hole of it: a card still incomplete at the finish leaves that match unsettled, a push. A match-play nine that ends level is halved.
