Cup Mode

A Ryder Cup–style team event: two teams, sessions of four-ball, foursomes and singles, and net match play. Set up by the Cup’s organiser.

What a Cup is

Two teams play a series of match-play matches across one or more sessions. A match win is worth a point and a halved match half a point each. The team that reaches half the available points plus a half wins the Cup.

The organiser sets the Cup up. Once it is running, players score their own matches from their phones.

Setting one up

From Start, choose Cup Time, then New Cup. Name the Cup and the two teams, pick who plays for each side from your group, and Create Cup. Setup then has four tabs:

  • Players — add people from the group, or type a guest’s name and handicap.
  • Sessions — each session is 9 or 18 holes in one format: Four-Ball (2-man best ball), Foursomes (2-man alternate shot) or Singles. Start from the Standard Ryder or Turkey Cup template, or build your own. A session can be net, with the USGA allowances filled in (singles 100%, four-ball 90%, foursomes 50%) and editable.
  • Matches — pair players for each match, or “Auto-pair by handicap”.
  • Review & release — check it all over.

The draft, then the reveal

While you build it, the Cup is private: only you and the group’s admins can see it. When you are ready — the night before, say — choose “Release to the field” and the teams go public. You can pull the release back until the first score or concession is entered.

Guests and claim links

A guest seat can be handed to its player. Choose Invite on the seat to create a claim link, or “Invite all guests” to create links for everyone at once and Copy all into one message for the group chat. The app does not send the links; you do. Creating a new link for a seat cancels the old one.

Playing it

Enter scores opens the Cup’s play screen, with Leaderboard, Scorecard and Enter tabs. The players in a match score it, and the organiser can score any match. A hole can be conceded to either side. While a Cup is live, the ticker at the top of the app shows the team score and how many points win it.
